Dog Fouling

In response to concerns about dog fouling, Shropshire Council has over the last few months installed additional dog waste bins in Tilstock and Ash. The Dog Warden has also increased patrols of the area. However, when it comes to dealing with dog fouling, the most useful tool is information. We need specific facts from residents such as:

· When – are there any patterns to the time of day, or the day itself?

· Where – do specific locations regularly suffer from dog fouling?

· How often – twice a day, daily, a few times a week, etc.?

· What have you seen? – If you have witnessed someone failing to clean up after their dog, you may be able to provide us with a witness statement that could help us take enforcement action.

All of this information will help the dog warden to target his patrols and mean that we should have a higher chance of catching the culprits. Residents with relevant information can email Shropshire Council’s Environmental Maintenance team at: [email protected] Please write ‘TAPP – dog fouling’ as the subject matter.

Village Hall Vandalism

As many of you know, the village hall was vandalised by a group of youths on the evening of Saturday the 5th of March. The police believe that these youths weren’t local, but had been camping nearby and blazed a trail of destruction from their campsite on the Whixall road all the way to The Raven.

If anyone ever hears a disturbance or witnesses any vandalism or anti-social behaviour in the village, please call the police immediately. Their non-emergency number is 0300 333 3000

Tilstock Play Area

Are there any parents out there who would be interested in forming a small Play Area Committee?

The play area is situated on land belonging to the Village Hall, behind the School playing field. The Village Hall Committee obtained the original funding for the play area, and the Whitchurch Rural District Council is responsible for the insurance. There are plans in the pipeline to set up a maintenance fund. At the moment, grass-cutting and any repairs to fencing etc. are paid for by the Village Hall.

We’d like to set up a Play Area Committee to be responsible for the following duties:

o Weekly inspection for any damage to equipment, safety matting or fencing, keeping a written record of these inspections.
o Picking up litter.
o Emptying the litter bin when required.
o Report any damage or problems to the Village Hall Committee.

Some Play Area Fundraising might be useful too!

If your children use the playground, and you’d like to help, please contact [email protected]. Include your phone number and we’ll get in touch.

Stitch Club

Tilstock Stitch Club meets in Tilstock Village Hall on the 3rd Wednesday of every month (except August), at 7.30pm. There is a fee of £2 per person per meeting, which includes tea and biscuits.

We aim to cover all aspects of needlecraft: most of our members (though not all!) enjoy knitting, and we knit for various charities.

Other activities include: sewing, embroidery of all kinds, patchwork and quilting, and crochet. If you’re a beginner, come along for help and advice; if you’re an expert, we would welcome your skills!
